I grew up on a full working farm and I was very close to my father. He was a true entrepreneur and his philosophy as a parent was that 'nothing was impossible' - memorable events include moving from the farm across the country at 15 and getting my first job at 16 at McDonalds.
The biggest challenge was my personality. I wanted to do things my way and I was very focused on getting things done quickly. A variety of leaders coached me and helped me to improve my leadership skills and to build greater mastery around understanding people and how to engage and motivate people at a higher level.
I have been lucky to have many - a boss in the bank was instrumental in guiding my progress. In the insurance company, I had a boss, Donna who had incredible tact and grace and helped me to say 'yes' to bigger opportunities. In the credit union, another boss, Linda who saw my entrepreneurial abilities and encouraged me to go seek what I wanted. The owner of the consulting firm I interned with Michael was very supportive and appreciative of my contributions and encouraged me to go off and start my own firm. My husband Reg is my business partner and has been instrumental in our consulting firm's success.
I have gone the non-traditional route for education- I went right into banking from high school and then I obtained numerous education throughout an entire career, diplomas in communication, numerous certifications in leadership, exponential innovation from Singularity University and currently am enrolled in an AI certification program through MIT. I believe that the future belongs to those who invest in lifelong learning. A lot of my education was 'on the job' with many fantastic leaders and mentors.
I sang in a rock band when I was 17 and we made a 45 record. For a client, I sang karaoke with the CEO at their awards gala. I am focused on people, I love to socialize and to have fun. I am service oriented I believe we all have a purpose.
As mentioned above my husband and business partner Reg Cran has been instrumental in my success. My Dad who passed away in 1984 influenced my entrepreneurial spirit. I have amazing family and friends who support my work.
I started in banking right out of high school; I got promoted annually in the ten years I was there. I was promoted to leadership at the age of 23 and I got headhunted by an insurance company when I was 28. I was an area manager for the insurance company and after a few years left there to start a mortgage program for a credit union. We oversold our targets in 18 months and from there interned with a consulting from and then went to start my own leadership/business consulting firm in 1997.

This book is my newest published Feb 2019 and it is focused on trends, strategies and ideas on how to leverage technology, how to focus on people first and how to 'create' your future of work.
Actually, our research is in all things future of work and our focus is on 'people first.' AI is one aspect of what is impacting the future of work. Our research has found that jobs will shift and that workers are seeking different kinds of work. Mercer and World Economic Forum research confirm what we have found, which is there will be new work to replace the current work that is being automated. Also, although machine learning and AI can solve simple tasks there is a need for humans to be able to solve the more complex aspects of work. The future will be about humans and technology working together.
