Focused Leadership, creating a culture of winning, taking “Team” to stratospheric conditions- these are a few of the high-octane descriptors that come to mind when I think of Adam Vital.

I had the honor and privilege of working for Adam during one of many periods of change in the wireless industry. In the midst of chaos, and where stretch goals became non-negotiables, Adam brought to the table his years of winning to our region in the Southeast while at AT&T Mobility.

Every employee was important, and he never missed a “coaching moment” with everyone he interacted with. This was one of many key learnings that I tried to emulate with the teams that I supported.

It’s interesting, I didn’t know Adam was a college defensive football standout for Dan Devine at Missouri until later on in my career. He was humble in that respect, but one thing he wasn’t humble about- Winning and Team Development. This was an expectation with every leader who worked for him. Adam brought out the best in people.

Adam Vital is a great leader. I worked for many leaders, but Adam was the best. Adam can look at a business problem, listen to various perspectives and then set a successful course of action. Adam believes in keeping key areas of focus limited and then execute well on a specific group of focus items. This approach keeps the teams aligned. One major failure I have seen in other leaders, is trying to drive too many priorities at once and the result is nothing gets executed well. Adam’s approach is simpler to understand and execute. Adam is also driven for peak performance. Never satisfied with average, always striving to be the best. Adam is a difference maker. While he can be tough, he is also very fair and treats all people with respect. 

I worked with Adam and his teams when he was running Regions for Cingular (ATT), and I worked for Adam when he was VP Sales Ops at Cingular (ATT). Adam is smart, driven to results, a first rate thinker who not only develops winning strategies, but then works collaboratively with his teams to develop and execute the tactical plan. His calm and clear communication ensures understanding and buy-in, leading to winning results. I learned a lot from Adam, and still do today.
